Revisiting the Photographs of Marvin Morrison
Opening Reception: Friday, November 17, 5:30 - 7:30 PM
Exhibition Dates: November 16, 2023 - May 20, 2024
Marvin Morrison was a lifelong Arizona farmer and a vernacular photographer. An early member of the successful Morrison Farms, alongside his brother, Kenneth, he also worked with community leaders to improve farming operations nationally.
For years, while working the land and serving in local business, Marvin carried his camera – shooting the everyday and significant events in his daily life. Marvin’s images give a unique insight into a life most do not experience in today’s fast-paced world and they reveal his overwhelming dedication to the people, activities, and details of his family’s farmland.
This work, courtesy of Howard Morrison and the Morrison Family, was created when artist, Gina DeGideo, was commissioned to sift through hundreds of photographic prints, negatives, and color slides to create a series of prints representative of Marvin Morrison’s unique voice.
